- A few days ago I finally managed to get control of my OOB experiences. This is strictly OOBE's, not astral, mental, or
- empathic projection. I can not OOB from a conscious state on purpose yet, but I can OOB from lucid dreams. The control
- I've finally gotten I've been able to have only through control of dreams.
-
- There are a few different things I have used to get control of my dreams consciously. I have found one way that works for me
- to realize I'm dreaming so that the dream becomes lucid. Throughout the day I ask myself, whenever I manage to remember,
- "Am I dreaming right now?" During the day the answer is an obvious "No. Of course not." But getting into the habit of asking
- myself that while I'm awake makes it commonly show up in my dreams also, allowing me a chance of figuring out that it IS a
- dream. To decide if I'm dreaming I check two main things. First of all I look for anything that seems out of place or odd; the
- settings of my dreams are usually close to realistic but not quite. Then I consider, "How did I get here? What is my immediate
- past?" If I can not figure out how I got where I was standing, I know it is a dream. And of course if I see any scenery out of
- place, I know it is a dream. A technique I have heard of for recognizing dreams is to try to read something during them, and see
- that it won't say the same thing twice. This has not worked for me, because I read things in my dreams quite often and they
- always say the same thing the second time. Asking myself these questions during the day has gotten me into enough of a habit
- that I ask them in my dreams too, and it has helped me a lot in recognizing dreams that I have.
-
- The other thing I've done to get control of my dreams is a bit simpler to describe. Before going to sleep each night, I tell myself
- that I am going to dream and remember it. I started out just making sure I would remember some dreams. Once I could
- remember more than one dream a night fairly often, I began telling myself that not only would I remember the dreams, but I
- would recognize at least one as a dream. Either I would dream that I remembered to ask myself the questions, or I would just
- realize it was a dream. I also started practicing telling myself that I would dream about a certain thing. For instance, I would
- dream that I was flying. Since I can not fly while awake, noticing that I was flying would make me realize I was in a dream.
- What I did for this was simply to suggest to myself before going to sleep that I would dream, remember it, and dream about a
- specific thing.
-
- Now, this dream control is all fine and dandy, but there's another step. Once I realize I'm dreaming, my actions and thoughts
- change from the reactions I have in dreams to the reactions I have consciously. It feels like a change in my consciousness level.
- From there, I must wake myself just slightly so I get out of the dream state. Usually at this point I can not see much or hear
- much; everything is pretty blurry with some vague nameless shapes around me. Then I think, "Up" while raising my energy level.
- The "up" lifts me out of my body; raising my energy level makes that easier and lets me stay out for a while. After that, I simply
- have to not get too excited about being out; if I do I snap back in. I'm still working on overcoming that so I can stay out for
- more than two minutes at a time.
-
-
- This way of doing things has worked quite well for me. I can remember to ask myself if I'm dreaming just often enough that it
- has become a habit even during dreams. I figured out how to recognize dreams once I asked myself the question, and finally
- how to actually OOB from the lucid dream state. What level I'm on after that, astral, physical, or whatever, is determined by
- my energy level after I get out. And that is another file.
